THE CIGAR LADY
Havana, Cuba, Winter — Her name is Graciela and she is famous, even been in National Geographic. She sits every day in the same doorway in Old Havana, charging tourists a dollar to take her picture. Her look changes daily; she accessorizes whimsically, though somewhat incongruously. I wonder how many Cuban cigars she has smoked, thoroughly enjoying each one. She reminds me of my Aunt Molly in a funny sort of way; I think it’s her lips.
